Also, we have endorsed a new report on public investment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The increasingly worrying problem of prices in new cancer treatments has led us to Paris this week where, together with\u00a0<strong>KEI Europe,\u00a0<a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/justtreatment.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Just Treatment<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/keionline.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">KEI<\/a>\u00a0and UACT<\/strong>, we have organized the\u00a0<strong>\u2018Workshop on cost and availability of cancer treatments in the United Kingdom, France and Spain\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the workshop were to share information and thoughts on the cost and access to treatments and examine the current state in these three countries. We also discussed alternatives to have a new model of innovation and development and initiatives to reduce drug prices.<\/p>\n<p>This week, in addition,\u00a0<strong>STOPAIDS and Global Justice Now<\/strong>\u00a0have published the report\u00a0<strong>&#8216;Pills and Benefits: How Pharmaceutical Companies Destroy Drug Research&#8217;<\/strong>, with the support of various organizations, including Salud por Derecho (Right to Health Foundation).<\/p>\n<p>The report shows, with the example of the UK, how taxpayers are financing with millionaries investments of public money researches of life-saving drugs, and how<strong>pharmaceutical companies impose very high prices<\/strong>\u00a0for those drugs once on the market, making them too expensive for the population that needs them and\u00a0<strong>showing a problem with the return of public investment in research.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"around-button inline\"><a data-hover=\"READ REPORT\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Pills-and-profits-report-WEB-002.pdf\" class=\"styled-button inline dfd-block-title-family bg-main text-white icon-color-main border-color-main style-1  text-center\" style=\"font-size: 20px; height: 40px; line-height: 40px; border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; border-radius: 0px; font-weight: 100; letter-spacing: 0px;\"><span data-hover=\"READ REPORT\">READ REPORT<\/span><\/a><\/span>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we have traveled to Paris for a workshop on cancer drug prices.
