It&#8217;s been\u00a0<strong>a busy year full of challenges<\/strong>\u00a0in the fight for the right to health for all people, no matter where they live.<\/p>\n<p>One of our main focuses, this year, has been advocating for equitable access to medicines. We&#8217;ve been pushing for\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/salud-por-derecho-calls-on-the-ministry-of-health-for-more-transparency-in-the-assessments-of-medicines-and-other-health-technologies\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/salud-por-derecho-calls-on-the-ministry-of-health-for-more-transparency-in-the-assessments-of-medicines-and-other-health-technologies\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\"><strong>greater transparency in drug pricing<\/strong><\/a>, evaluations, and contracts between public institutions\u00a0and pharmaceutical companies. We&#8217;ve also spoken out against high and unjustified drug prices,\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/we-say-no-to-extending-the-duration-of-intellectual-property-protecon-for-medicines\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/we-say-no-to-extending-the-duration-of-intellectual-property-protecon-for-medicines\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">excessive monopolies<\/a>, and corporate practices that hinder\u00a0<strong>access to life-saving treatments, such as lenacapavir.<\/strong>\u00a0This drug has\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/lenacapavir-las-licencias-voluntarias-de-gilead-no-llegan-a-paises-que-las-necesitan\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/lenacapavir-las-licencias-voluntarias-de-gilead-no-llegan-a-paises-que-las-necesitan\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\">the potential to transform the fight against HIV\/AIDS<\/a>\u00a0(in fact, it was just named breakthrough of the year by\u00a0<em>Science<\/em>\u00a0magazine), and we discussed it extensively at the International AIDS Conference in Munich.<\/p>\n<p>In June, we published\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/new-report-salud-por-derecho-advocates-for-more-ambitious-policies-to-address-the-health-impacts-of-climate-change\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/new-report-salud-por-derecho-advocates-for-more-ambitious-policies-to-address-the-health-impacts-of-climate-change\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">a new report on the impact of climate change on health<\/a>, another of our priorities this year. In it, we called for\u00a0<strong>more ambitious climate policies to mitigate its effects<\/strong>, emphasizing that caring for the planet is inseparable from caring for our health. This led to our campaign &#8220;<a title=\"https:\/\/www.nomevaadartiempo.es\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nomevaadartiempo.es\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"5\">No me va a dar tiempo<\/a>&#8220;. If you haven&#8217;t seen it yet, we encourage you to have a look.<\/p>\n<p>We also closely followed the various milestones in the approval process of the<strong>\u00a0new European directive on air quality<\/strong>, working both at the European and national levels to ensure that the final version of the standard\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/eurpean-parliament-approves-new-ambient-air-quality-directive\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/eurpean-parliament-approves-new-ambient-air-quality-directive\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"6\">was as ambitious as possible<\/a>\u00a0and aligned with WHO recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>Another important area of our work this year has been highlighting<strong>\u00a0the impact of migration policies on the migrants\u2019 health<\/strong>.\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/we-denounce-the-impact-of-european-migration-policies-on-the-health-of-migrant-persons\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/we-denounce-the-impact-of-european-migration-policies-on-the-health-of-migrant-persons\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"7\">In a report published in October<\/a>, we analyzed the serious physical and mental consequences that these people suffer and can persist for years. We also denounced<a title=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/81-civil-society-organisations-call-on-meps-to-vote-down-harmful-eu-migration-pact\/\" href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/81-civil-society-organisations-call-on-meps-to-vote-down-harmful-eu-migration-pact\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"8\">\u00a0the setbacks of the new Migration and Asylum Pact<\/a>, even though in a meeting with the Prime Minister, where we urged him to ensure that its upcoming\u00a0<strong>implementation in Spain will respect human rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This is just a brief overview of our work this year.
