Since 2002, the Global Fund partnership has <strong data-start=\"746\" data-end=\"772\">saved 70 million lives<\/strong>, with a <strong data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"811\">63% reduction in mortality<\/strong> and a <strong data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"846\">42% decline in incidence<\/strong> in countries where it invests.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"881\" data-end=\"1275\">This progress has transformed health and well-being in entire communities. In 15 sub-Saharan African countries, <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1134\">life expectancy rose from 49 to 61 years since 2002, <\/strong>with more than half of that gain attributed to progress against AIDS, TB and malaria. Between 2002 and 2023, an estimated <strong data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1219\">US$103 billion in health costs were averted<\/strong> through reduced inpatient and outpatient utilization.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1300\">In 2024:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1369\"><strong data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1326\">25.6 million people<\/strong> received antiretroviral therapy for HIV.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1417\"><strong data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1394\">7.4 million people<\/strong> were treated for TB.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1522\"><strong data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1469\">162 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets<\/strong> were distributed to protect families from malaria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"2222\">Yet progress is at risk. After over two decades of remarkable progress, global health is once again in crisis. <strong>Sharp reductions in international funding are having a huge impact, <\/strong>including on the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria, and could put millions of lives at risk \u2013 many of them children\u2019s. Added to this are global pressures such as <strong data-start=\"1874\" data-end=\"1985\">drug resistance, debt distress, conflict, the erosion of human rights and the impacts of a changing climate<\/strong>. The report warns that without sustained commitment, the gains made with such effort could collapse, with far greater human and economic costs in the future and a tragic legacy for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2670\">The good news is that <strong data-start=\"2246\" data-end=\"2278\">new tools are being deployed<\/strong> that can accelerate the fight: <strong data-start=\"2310\" data-end=\"2360\">long-acting HIV prevention <a href=\"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/lenacapavir-the-new-hiv-injection-that-gilead-is-delaying-in-the-countries-that-need-it-most\/\">such as lenacapavir<\/a><\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2362\" data-end=\"2428\">AI-driven interpretation of digital X-rays for TB case-finding<\/strong>, new treatments and vaccines, and <strong data-start=\"2463\" data-end=\"2514\">dual active ingredient insecticide-treated nets<\/strong> to fight malaria. With urgent and sustained investments, these innovations could be game changers in ending the three epidemics as public health threats.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"3064\">In the coming weeks, the Global Fund\u2019s Eighth Replenishment will take place \u2014 a critical moment to sustain momentum in the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria.
