Over the course of these last few years, we have seen how both HIV\/AIDS and other poverty-related diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis still take their toll on millions of lives of people who end up loosing their lives because they lack the money or new biomedical products they need to fight these diseases, products which the market alone is unable to provide. What\u2019s more, these diseases must be treated in precarious, oftentimes virtually non-existent health care systems that prevent access to basic, quality health care that would solve a large share of the health problems in these countries. All of this comes to violate two basic, fundamental rights: the right to health and the right to life.<\/p>\n
Salud por Derecho works to achieve a change in the current international aid paradigm. We believe in the need to move from a voluntary model to a model based on global shared responsibility as the factor that will make the difference in attaining universal access for HIV\/AIDS, the availability of affordable medical products that poor countries need and in attaining access for all persons in impoverished countries to a basic health care package on a permanent basis, irrespectively of their level of income or that of the country where they live.<\/p>\n
