{"id":8254,"date":"2014-04-10T08:36:54","date_gmt":"2014-04-10T06:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/?p=8254"},"modified":"2016-06-30T17:07:43","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T15:07:43","slug":"robin-hood-tax-campaign-diary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/robin-hood-tax-campaign-diary\/","title":{"rendered":"Robin Hood Tax: Campaign Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Talk of the Financial Transaction Tax is on everyone\u2019s lips, as it has become a growing issue on the agenda of the 11 governments of the EU<a title=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Teresa\/Desktop\/RobinHoodTaxcampaigndiary.docx#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> that have committed to implementing the tax in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>During the last few weeks, we have driven a variety of measures through civil society to make sure this tax becomes a reality. Here is what we have done in 2014:<\/p>\n<p>-12\/02\/2014\u2014More than <a href=\"http:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/our-actions\/300-european-organizations-send-a-letter-to-rajoy-urging-him-not-to-yield-to-pressures-from-the-financial-lobby\/\">300 organizations of the civil society of Spain and Europe ask Rajoy<\/a> and his counterparts in Germany, Austria, France, and Italy to commit to implementing the tax.<\/p>\n<p>-19\/03\/2014\u2014We meet with representatives from \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/es-la.facebook.com\/tasarobinhood\">the Spanish Alliance for the Robin Hood Tax<\/a>\u201d and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itfya.org\/web\/guest\/home\">\u201cPlataforma ITF \u00a1Ya!, Para\u00edsos Fiscales NO\u201d<\/a> in our new headquarters to join efforts in the campaign to implement the FTT.<\/p>\n<p>-20\/03\/2014\u2014Salud por Derecho publishes a report in conjunction with Economistas Frente a la Crisis entitled, <a href=\"http:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Documento-Economistas-eng.pdf\">\u201cThe Financial Transaction Tax in the Framework of Enhanced Cooperation in the EU: Evolution and Perspectives\u201d<\/a> written by Manual de la Rocha V\u00e1squez and \u00c9rika Rodr\u00edguez Pinz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>-20\/03\/2014\u2014We meet with the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations to learn the Spain\u2019s position on the negotiations on the FTT in the meetings of the ECOFIN Council.<\/p>\n<p>-08\/04\/2014\u2014We organize a <a href=\"http:\/\/saludporderecho.org\/en\/what-we-do\/salud-por-derecho-y-economistas-frente-a-la-crisis-organize-political-actors-economists-and-members-of-the-civil-society-in-a-lunch-debate-to-discuss-the-implementation-of-the-financial-transaction\/\" target=\"_blank\">lunch and discussion with Economistas Frente a la Crisis on the FFT<\/a> and invite political actors, economists, and members of the civil society.<\/p>\n<p>In less than a month, May 6<sup>th<\/sup>, the ECOFIN Council is expected to reach an agreement on the implementation of the FTT.
