Although the Right to Health is included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 100 million persons a year drop below the poverty line because they have to pay for the health services they receive. While there has been progress over the last few years, in order to put an end to this situation, universal social health insurance must be brought about to enable a basic health care package ensuring the universal right to health. In order for this to happen, we at Salud por Derecho will work, amongst other things, that just as inscribed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the international community exercises its responsibility to help those States with fewer resources to make the right to health, as well as other fundamental rights, effective.
