1. What are cookies?

The website owned and operated by Fundación Salud por Derecho (hereinafter, the “website” or the “site”) uses cookies and/or similar technologies that store and retrieve information when you browse. In general, these technologies can serve a wide range of purposes, such as recognizing you as a user, obtaining information about your browsing habits, or personalizing the way content is displayed.

Users may configure their browser to notify them of and reject the installation of cookies sent by the website. This will not prevent access to the website’s content; however, the quality of the website’s functionality may be reduced.

The specific uses we make of these technologies are described below.

2. What types of cookies exist?

According to their Duration:

  • Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are usually used to store information only relevant to the provision of the requested service and expire when the browser is closed.
  • Persistent cookies: Data remains stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a defined period, either until the purpose is fulfilled (e.g., keeping the user logged in) or until they are manually deleted.

According to their Owner:

  • First-party cookies: Sent to the user’s device from a domain managed by the publisher (the website owner) providing the requested service.
  • Third-party cookies: Sent to the user’s device from a domain not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

According to their Purpose:

  • Technical cookies: These allow navigation through the website and the use of its various options or services, such as session identification or traffic control.
  • Preference or customization cookies: These remember user preferences (e.g., volume settings or video streaming speeds) so the service does not need to be reconfigured on every visit.
  • Geolocation cookies: Used to determine the country from which a service is requested. These are completely anonymous.
  • Registration cookies: Generated once a user registers or logs in to keep them identified (unless they log out) or to verify authorization for specific services.
  • Analytics or measurement cookies: Generated by third-party tools to identify the visitor anonymously, count the number of visitors, and identify the most attractive content. Note: Unless the user registers, these cookies are never associated with personal identifying data.
  • Behavioral advertising cookies: These help build an advertising interest profile based on browsing patterns to deliver tailored advertisements.
  • Third-party advertising cookies: Managed by third-party AdServers to serve ads and access data stored in their own cookies via the website.
