“If we can’t get the vaccines to developing countries, they’re going to have a crisis with a brutal impact on HIV” Last week the High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS took place in New York, in which the Member States of the United Nations adopted (not without controversy) a new Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS that, according to UNAIDS, it is ambitious and achievable, aiming to end inequalities and be in a position to end AIDS... The European Union makes a move to block consensus on the temporary patent waiver A TRIPS Council session will be held on 8 and 9 June at the WTO to discuss the proposal submitted by India and South Africa for a temporary waiver of patents. Ahead of the session, the EU submitted a new text to the WTO which contains clearly insufficient measures to increase the production and... No Es Sano reveals the huge amounts invested by Governments in Covid-19 vaccines and decries the relinquishment of this investment into the hands of the pharmaceutical industry In our new report, the campaign analyses the main vaccines that are available globally, their origins, their funding, aspects related to their intellectual property, purchase agreements, and their different prices. It criticises the fact that these vaccines originated from decades-long projects funded with large amounts of public money, and that this knowledge and investment,... WE ARE INDEPENDENT

At Salud por Derecho we define our own agenda and defend it against all odds. We design our projects and campaigns with a singular focus on what is needed to change things and defend human rights.

ADVOCACY

We believe in the possibility of changing the world around us and in the power of citizens and ideas. To that end we campaign, formulate proposals and advocate for change, placing the focus on the responsibility of governments and political representatives.

WE WORK AS PART OF A NETWORK

We sit different stakeholders down at the same table and work in partnership with other civil society organizations; professional, academic and patient associations; and think tanks and social movements in fields like global health, development, social justice and the economy.

WHAT WE DO

Image module

40 million people are currently infected with the AIDS virus worldwide and only 50% have access to treatment. We work towards an adequate global response to this pandemic and eradicating it entirely.

Image module

The current pharmaceutical R&D model is broken, as evidenced by the high prices of medicine and lack of research into unprofitable diseases. Our efforts are geared towards a just and sustainable model.

Image module

Millions of people get sick and die from causes that could largely be prevented with access to health services. We work towards a model of social protection to ensure universal access.

You can catch a plane and travel the world with your backpack full of medicine. You can switch careers and become a doctor and go to where they need you most. You can study law and fight to change it in the heart of the European Union. You can also give up everything and dedicate your life to creating a more just world that gives everyone equal access to health. You can do all of these things, but you can also become a Salud por Derecho member or associate and support those who are already doing these things for you.
