The Ministry of Health refuses to report the prices of several high cost medicines In recent years the No es Sano (It’s Not Healthy) campaign has been carrying out actions to make the entire process for the approval and funding of new medicines and therapies by the National Health System transparent. In the exercise of the right to information, the campaign has made a series of requests to the... Pandemic Treaty Zero draft positioning Salud por Derecho welcomes the first draft of the Pandemic Treaty, a necessary instrument that should be the main international route map to address the major large pandemic challenges facing global health over the coming years. The debates that will take place within the INB in the coming months will therefore be crucial to improve... We join The Global Climate and Health Alliance This week, Salud por Derecho has become part of the The Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA). An alliance formed in 2011, in Durban, South Africa, following COP17, which works to address climate change and to protect and promote public health. The alliance, made up of international health and development organizations, works to:  Ensure that health... Civil Society Open Letter to the Council of the European Union Concerning Transferable Exclusivity Vouchers for Antimicrobials Dear Ministers, Dear Ambassadors, We, the undersigned civil society organisations, are concerned about the European Commission’s intentions to introduce transferable exclusivity vouchers (TEVs) for the development of effective antimicrobials. We strongly urge the Council to reject such a proposal at the upcoming Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) meeting on 8-9 December 2022,... World AIDS Day: hugs to protect This year we wanted to commemorate World AIDS Day by combining remembrance and art, through Martín Elfman’s illustration that turns the symbolic red ribbon into a hug. Despite the amazing progress made in recent decades, we are still so far from ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Just last year, over one and a half million... Salud por Derecho's position on COP27 and climate change commitments COP27, held over the past few weeks in Egypt, represented an opportunity to phase out fossil fuel consumption. RIGHT TO HEALTH

WE ARE A NON-PROFIT FOUNDATION THAT DEFENDS HUMAN RIGHTS SO THAT ALL PEOPLE, WHEREVER THEY LIVE, CAN EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO HEALTH.

WE ARE INDEPENDENT

At Salud por Derecho we define our own agenda and defend it against all odds. We design our projects and campaigns with a singular focus on what is needed to change things and defend human rights.

ADVOCACY

We believe in the possibility of changing the world around us and in the power of citizens and ideas. To that end we campaign, formulate proposals and advocate for change, placing the focus on the responsibility of governments and political representatives.

WE WORK AS PART OF A NETWORK

We sit different stakeholders down at the same table and work in partnership with other civil society organizations; professional, academic and patient associations; and think tanks and social movements in fields like global health, development, social justice and the economy.

WHAT WE DO

Image module

40 million people are currently infected with the AIDS virus worldwide and only 50% have access to treatment. We work towards an adequate global response to this pandemic and eradicating it entirely.

Image module

The current pharmaceutical R&D model is broken, as evidenced by the high prices of medicine and lack of research into unprofitable diseases. Our efforts are geared towards a just and sustainable model.

Image module

Millions of people get sick and die from causes that could largely be prevented with access to health services. We work towards a model of social protection to ensure universal access.

You can catch a plane and travel the world with your backpack full of medicine. You can switch careers and become a doctor and go to where they need you most. You can study law and fight to change it in the heart of the European Union. You can also give up everything and dedicate your life to creating a more just world that gives everyone equal access to health. You can do all of these things, but you can also become a Salud por Derecho member or associate and support those who are already doing these things for you.
