New treatments through immunotherapy are a revolution in the treatment of certain types of cancer. This is the case of CAR-T therapies, which modify the cells of the patient’s immune system to detect and destroy the cancer-causing cells. However, the very high price with which some of them have come onto the market is creating -and will create- a barrier of access and availability for all the people who may need them.
In this sense, non-commercial academic CAR-T therapies (that is, those developed in the public sphere such as universities or research centers) are affordable and actual alternatives to commercial CAR-Ts. In Spain, the Barcelona Clínic Hospital has been pioneering in the public development of CAR-T therapies.
Therefore, Salud por Derecho and the General Medical Council (Spain) are pleased to invite you to the online webinar PRESENT AND FUTURE OF PUBLIC CAR-T that will take place on September 9th, from 15h30 to 17h.
In this webinar, we will meet the experts and get and approach from first hand to the Spanish public CAR-T R&D initiative, we will explore present and future opportunities and challenges in Spain, Europe and globally, and we will debate about the need of keeping the support for R&D and public production of cellular therapies as a model to ensure universal access to safe, effective and affordable treatments.
